Following months of uncertainty over the future of dental services in Colwyn Bay, it has been confirmed that a new provider will be taking over Bupa Dental Care practice from next week.

It was feared that 12,000 people would be without a dentist when the Bupa Dental Care first announced its plans to close the Colwyn Bay practice last year, as other NHS dentists in the area are full to capacity and unable to take them on.

Darren launched a campaign in a bid to safeguard services in the town and has been working closely with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Bupa to secure a solution to the problem.

Last week Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board gave the green light for a new provider to take over the practice and this week the deal has been confirmed

Welcoming the news, Darren said: .

“I am delighted to confirm that from 16th February Bupa Dental Care in Colwyn Bay will become part of Eirlys Dental, a group of family friendly dental practices based in North Wales and run by Dr Mostafa Hassaan.

“This is great news as it will ensure continuity of NHS services to patients and safeguard the jobs of those working at the practice.

“I want to thank Bupa, the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Eirlys Dental for working together to achieve this positive outcome, and also everyone who signed my petition to save dental services in Colwyn Bay. I look forward to welcoming  Eirlys Dental  to Colwyn Bay.”
