Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has applauded a £1.1m programme of improvements to Colwyn Bay Station after seeing them first hand during a visit last week.
The improvements were carried out by Network Rail during the lockdown and involved work on the footbridges, roofs, platforms and a repaint in heritage green and red.
Darren was extremely impressed with the major revamp when he visited on Friday.
Speaking after his visit, he said:
“I’d obviously heard about the work that had been carried out during lockdown, but was quite overwhelmed when I saw the huge difference it has made to the station.
“The work to the footbridge has replaced frosted glass with clear glass so that those using the station can enjoy views of Colwyn Bay promenade and beach.
“A number of rooms on the station have also been improved for potential tenants in the future.
“There is no doubt that the changes have made the station more pleasant and safer for passengers, as well as reducing maintenance costs in the future.
“I wish to thank Network Rail for investing in this well used station. I’m sure their efforts will be much appreciated by both locals and visitors.”
