It was a case of one man and his dog when Clwyd West MS Darren Millar paid a visit to a school in his constituency last week.
Darren called to see children and staff at Ysgol Cynfran in Llanddulas last Friday, but didn’t attend alone.
After talking about and introducing his beloved pet whippet ‘Blue’ to pupils at the school on a recent online ‘Digital Dialogue’ session with them, Darren decided to take Blue into the school so the children could meet his four-legged friend properly.
Speaking after his visit, Darren said:
“Last month I enjoyed a really good online session with the children at Ysgol Cynfran, Llanddulas, as part of the Digital Dialogue - Wales programme, delivered by the Politics Project, which works across the UK to connect schools and young people with their elected representatives through video conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Teams.
“During the session I introduced them to my dog Blue and they showed a real interest in him which led to me offering to meet them in person with Blue in tow.
“They are a fun bunch and it was an absolute pleasure to spend more time with them.
“We had discussed animal welfare issues during our online session and I told them all about how Blue was a rescue dog. They seemed to really enjoy meeting him and once again asked me some impressive questions. Blue seemed to really enjoy his time with the children too. They were all so gentle and caring towards him – he got enough attention during our visit to last him a lifetime!
“I thank the children and staff for giving us both such a warm welcome.”
