Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed news that 42 projects in Conwy are set to receive funding from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund Conwy Community Regeneration Key Fund, a substantial number of which are in his constituency.
Bids were submitted by community focused organisations that want to deliver projects that address local needs, contribute to building Pride in Place, and make a visible difference.
With a total of £3million allocated so far, the successful projects range from youth projects, environmental initiatives, play facilities, to community building renovations.
Welcoming the funding, Darren said:
“It is fantastic to hear that so many projects in Clwyd West are set to benefit from this funding, making a real difference to local communities.
“The funding packages range from £157,679.93 for Citizen’s Advice Bureau Conwy, to £249,999.00 for Stadiwm CSM Athletics Track Refurbishment in Colwyn Bay.
“There are also smaller grants for projects such as Owain Glyndwr Abandoned Play Area project in Kinmel Bay which is set to receive £11,626.00, and £11,207.00 for Old Colwyn Residents Association for Min Y Don Park Enhancements.
“The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) is part of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.
“Conwy County Borough Council has been allocated a total of £24.5m to invest and spend by March 2025.
“This funding aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK and I look forward to seeing the benefits it will deliver across Conwy.”
