Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed funding which will be used to ensure that visitors to Loggerheads have an even better experience.
Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB (Denbighshire County Council) are to receive £76,640 to create ‘A Welcoming Loggerheads’.
The funding is being provided by Brilliant Basics, a capital fund to deliver small-scale tourism infrastructure improvements across Wales, which is aimed at public, third sector and not for profit organisations.
The £5 million fund for 2023-25 is being shared between 29 projects. It is supporting local authorities and national parks to deliver improvements which will benefit both visitors and local communities. This year’s fund is supporting a variety of projects including initiatives to help alleviate pressure in areas that are seeing increased visitor numbers, projects to improve accessibility and projects that make their destinations more environmentally sustainable.
Welcoming the news that Loggerheads in Clwyd West is set to benefit, Darren said:
“Loggerheads is a fantastic visitor destination which is much used by people from this part of North Wales as well as those from much further afield. With its beautiful wooded river valley, dramatic cliffs and outcrops, it is a great place for a short stroll or to start exploring the Clwydian Range, which will soon be part of Wales' newest National Park.
“I am therefore very pleased that this investment is being made to make it an even better place to visit.
“The funding will pay for access improvements to the visitor facilities at the Gallery, Mill and Tea Room, including replacement seating, interpretation panels and a wildlife activity feature.
“I look forward to seeing the improvements on my next visit.”
