The Dog’s Trust have launched a new survey this week on relinquishment in a bid to understand the complicated reasons why owners part with their dogs.
Relinquishment, otherwise known as giving up your dog, is a painful and difficult decision many dog owners face, particularly as the cost of living adds financial pressure to so many households.
Dogs Trust would like to greater understand the experiences of relinquishing a dog, so want to hear from people who have either relinquished a dog, considered doing so or are currently facing this situation.
Encouraging people in Conwy and Denbighshire to take part in the survey, Darren said:
“The results from this survey will help rehoming organisations, such as Dogs Trust, provide better support to people who need to give up their dogs, with the ultimate goal of improving the welfare of both dogs and people.
“The information people provide will be used for research purposes. Occasionally, Dog’s Trust share their research with universities and research institutions to benefit dogs and fulfil their charitable objectives. The findings from this research may be published. Before sharing, all personally identifiable information will be removed to ensure your participation remains confidential.
“The insights from this survey will equip Dog’s Trust to do even more for dogs, so that future dogs won’t have to suffer or be separated from their loving owners unnecessarily. I therefore encourage people to take part in the survey.”
