Clwyd West MS Darren Millar and North Wales MS Mark Isherwood have praised the work of the RSPCA's Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre near Colwyn Bay.
The pair visited the centre this week to meet with staff and receive an update on their work. The centre is currently home to around 170 animals, from dogs and cats to rats and tropical fish. The number of rescue animals is higher than usual due to an unusually large number of kittens which are currently looking for new homes.
During the visit the Senedd Members also heard from RSPCA Cymru's Senior Public Affairs Manager, Billie-Jade Thomas, about the charity's animal welfare campaigning priorities.
Speaking after the visit, Darren Millar said:
"It's always a pleasure to visit the Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre. The staff and volunteers there do an incredible job caring for the animals and rehoming thousands to loving homes each year.
"Taking such good care of so many animals at once is quite a challenge but it is incredibly rewarding work."
Mark Isherwood MS said:
"I want to thank the RSPCA for the invitation to visit Bryn-y-Maen. It gave me the opportunity to thank staff and volunteers for their important work and hear more about their priorities for the future.
"Darren and I look forward to working with them to improve animal welfare here in Wales."
