Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for North Wales Darren Millar MS has reacted to news that more families have been told by a Betsi Cadwaladr University Heath Board (BCUHB) that their relatives' deaths may have been linked to treatment by vascular services.
BCUHB has written to families who were part of a review after concerns were raised last year.
Four cases had already been reported to a coroner and the health board says it has been "very open" with relatives of other patients. It would not confirm how many.
Commenting on the news, Darren said:
"That there have been more deaths and more patients harmed as a result of poor vascular services than previously disclosed by the Betsi Cadwaldr University Health Board is an absolute scandal.
"The health board must come clean to the people of North Wales and the authorities about the number of patients involved. Patients, families, and their loved ones deserve to know the extent of the negligence and unnecessary harm that people have endured.
"It is now essential for both the Health and Safety Executive and the police to investigate these matters to determine whether there is a case of criminal negligence to be addressed."
