Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed news that a new multi-million-pound stroke unit is to be based at Llandudno Hospital.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board have revealed that the unit will be one of three in North Wales.
It will help with the rehabilitation of people who have suffered a stroke but no longer need acute care.
Darren said:
“I really do welcome this news.
“This is a much-needed facility which will hopefully result in a big improvement in outcomes for stroke patients in the area.
“Llandudno Hospital is well placed to house this new unit and those who have fought for investment and protection of the hospital over the years will be pleased to see services being developed there.”
Steven Grayston, the acting clinical director for therapy services at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, said that the three new stroke units will enhance and strengthen in-post-stroke care, giving people who have suffered a stroke maximum opportunity to recover and adapt in the best possible modern environment” and are “part of a multi-million-pound programme, which aims to improve stroke rehabilitation, prevention, and diagnosis in North Wales."
