Clwyd West MS Darren Millar is encouraging community projects to apply for funding from the Brenig Wind Ltd Community Benefit Fund, with the 8th round of funding open from today (September 1st).
The fund provides almost £4 million over 25 years for community projects in the area of benefit. The eligible area in Conwy and Denbighshire stretches from St Asaph in the north to Maerdy, near Corwen, in the south and from the River Clwyd in the east across the Denbigh Moors to Cerrigydrudion and the upper reaches of the Conwy Valley.
Darren said:
“The Brenig Community Fund has helped many projects in the area to date, and I would encourage eligible community groups, clubs and societies to apply for this latest round.
“The fund generates a lot of interest and funding applications. If you have applied previously, and not been successful, you are advised to contact Cadwyn Clwyd for guidance prior to re-submitting your application in future rounds.
“The money comes from Brenig Wind Ltd whose 16 wind turbines on Mynydd Hiraethog generate over 37.6 megawatts of power – enough to power over thirty thousand homes a year. This is a great opportunity and I am keen to ensure that the fantastic groups we have in this part of North Wales do not miss out.”
