Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed news that Ysgol Bryn Eilian in Colwyn Bay is set to receive funding to increase participation in football, including for women and disabled players.
It was announced today that the school is one one of 178 projects across the UK set to receive extra funding to support grassroots football in their local communities.
The school will receive £180,750 of the investment from the UK Conservative Government, the FA, and the Premier League, to enable them to create and improve football pitches, changing rooms, and pavilions.
Welcoming the news Darren said:
“I am absolutely thrilled that Ysgol Bryn Eilian is among the many projects that will benefit from this substantial investment in grassroots football.
“Providing opportunities to get our children active is vitally important and I therefore very much welcome the fact that Wales will receive £1.3 million to upgrade football facilities this financial year.
“This money will help support the construction or refurbishment of clubhouses, changing facilities, and community buildings, it will also widen access so that new generations and more local communities can come together, take up sport, and access high-quality facilities.”
