A Denbighshire village park and playground is set to be improved after being awarded £52,000 in grants.
Llanferres Park and Playground are to receive £20,000 from Clogaenog Forest Wind Farm Fund and £31,996 from The National Lottery People and Places Community Fund for much needed Tower play equipment replacement, essential repairs to the path and other play equipment, plus some new extra features.
Welcoming the news, Clwyd West MS Darren Millar said:
“This is fantastic news for the residents of Llanferres and I congratulate and thank all those involved in securing these substantial grants,
“With a built in BBQ for community celebrations and local fundraising events, the park and playground are well used by the local community and also attract families from the wider towns of Mold and Ruthin. The park is also used for wildlife projects and by the local school.
“These improvements will ensure that the park and playground continue to be assets the village can be proud of for many more years to come.”
Llanferres Cllr Martyn Holland said:
“The community group have worked extremely hard to maintain the playground over the years and I am delighted they have been successful in securing these two grants so that the park and playground can be improved.
“They deserve huge praise for all they have achieved and I thank them all, particularly the Chair Sean Thomas, who completed all the paperwork for the grants.
“The park and playground are already well used and these improvements will ensure that they continue to be going forward.”
The park will be closed for a few weeks, probably during May, and will hopefully re-open to run a fun filled ‘BBQ in the Park’ event during the long bank holiday weekend 2-5 June.
Further closure will be needed later in the year for the path work repairs.
