A schoolgirl from Clocaenog in Denbighshire has been selected from hundreds of entries to win a competition to design an official Christmas card for Clwyd West MS Darren Millar.
The theme of this year’s competition, which was open to primary schools in Conwy and Denbighshire, was ‘Christmas Joy’ and 10-year-old Aoife Roberts of Ysgol Carreg Emlyn designed a beautiful picture of a Christmas scene, with stockings hanging on the fireplace.
Darren said:
“I have been running this annual festive competition for many years now and every year I am overwhelmed with the vast number of excellent entries. There really are some talented youngsters out there.
“As always, it was tough choosing an overall winner, but Aoife’s entry stood out because of her attention to detail, including my own name on one of the stockings!
“It really depicted everything that is magical about Christmas and I particularly loved the roaring fire. I am sure the hundreds who receive my card this year will be as impressed as I am with her design.
“I would like to thank all the children who entered, they had clearly put a great deal of time and effort into their designs.
“This year’s card has been sponsored by the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay and Aoife will receive free entry to the zoo for her and her family. I hope they all have a fantastic day out, as well as a great Christmas.”
