Christmas 2020 was a difficult time for us all, with Wales locked down just days before Christmas Day.
2021 has been primarily focused on getting people vaccinated and huge steps have been made in getting Covid-19 under control in the UK.
It is therefore hugely disappointing that the Omicron variant is now causing further uncertainty for us all.
At the time of writing this message there had been no announcements of further restrictions over the festive period, and hopefully it will stay that way and we will all get to enjoy the celebrations we have planned.
Christmas is a lovely time of year, a time to not only celebrate the birth of Christ, but to also slow down from our fast paced lives and spend quality time with our loved ones.
Of course, sadly this isn’t the case for everyone. For some Christmas can be a lonely time and I encourage you all to call in and check on neighbours and friends who you know will be alone over the festive period.
We must also think of those who can not be with their families for whatever reasons, including those serving in the Armed Forces and key workers for who there is no festive break.
At this important time of year for the Christian faith, I send my very best wishes to all my constituents celebrating Christmas, and hope that 2022 will be a better year for us all.
