Clwyd West MS Darren Millar is encouraging residents to engage with a planned public consultation over proposals to develop Awel y Môr Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of North Wales.
Awel y Môr Offshore Wind Farm is a project being developed by RWE Renewables (RWE) to the west of the existing Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm. It is located approximately 10.5km off the Welsh coast in the Irish Sea, with a maximum total area of 88km2.
The project team is keen to hear from a wide range of stakeholders with an interest in the project and the Awel y Môr Public Consultation is due to go live from 31 August until 11 October 2021.
Darren said:
“With the plans showing that the potential maximum height of the turbine tip could be over 330 metres - a touch taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and more than double the size of the Gwynt y Môr turbines, people have legitimate concerns about this project and it is important that they make these known during the consultation period.
“A hybrid approach to the consultation is planned via a virtual exhibition platform accessed through the project website and select, targeted face-to-face consultation in key regions of North Wales, in outdoor spaces with a mobile exhibition vehicle in tow.
“Hard copies of summary consultation materials will be available at select library locations across North Wales and online information sessions will be taking place with the project team (further details available on our website during the consultation period.”
