Clwyd West MS and Chair of the Cross Party Group on the Armed Forces and Cadets in the Welsh Parliament, Darren Millar, has commended Denbighshire County Council for the award winning support it is providing to the armed forces community.
Darren was delighted to hear that the Council is one of 24 Welsh organisations and private sector employers to have received a Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award 2021 from the Ministry of Defence.
The ERS encourages employers to support defence and is open to employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
Welcoming the news, Darren said:
“I am absolutely thrilled that Denbighshire County Council is providing this vital support to all those who serve in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces and their families, and that they have been recognised for delivering such a great service.
“Life can be extremely challenging for veterans as they return to civilian life and we owe it to them to ensure they have access to the very best services and support.
“Denbighshire are clearly delivering on this front, and hopefully more councils in North Wales, and indeed across the whole of Wales, will follow suit.”
The official presentation of the award will take place at the Armed Forces in Wales and ERS Silver Awards Ceremony in Cardiff on Thursday, 25th November.
