Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed today’s announcement by the First Minister that restrictions on tourism businesses and travel are starting to be lifted in Wales.
However, he said the road to recovery for the sector is going to be a long one, and with people from outside of Wales still not able to visit, Darren is appealing to locals to give these businesses their support as they gradually reopen in the weeks ahead.
He said:
“Our tourism and hospitality sectors have been hit for six during the pandemic so it will come as a huge relief to many businesses and people who work in the visitor economy that restrictions on tourism businesses and travel are starting to be lifted.
“However, we must remember that it will still be tough for many of these firms in the coming weeks because the overwhelming majority of their customers come from outside of Wales and are still unable to travel here.
“I hope that as many people in Wales as possible will take the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor attractions and opportunities on their doorsteps over the Easter period and give Welsh tourism businesses the support they need.”
