Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has demanded an urgent meeting with Natural Resources Wales and Denbighshire County Council to discuss the “unacceptable” air pollution blighting the Glasdir estate in Ruthin.
For months residents and businesses in the area have been affected by smoke coming from Brickfield Lane industrial units.
The pollution is a public health risk and Darren is keen to end it.
He said:
“This has gone on for months now without a resolution and it is causing a great deal of unnecessary stress for Glasdir residents who are seriously concerned for their health.
“Families have complained that the thick smoke is aggravating their own and their children’s chests with symptoms such an wheezing, and the smoke is causing particular problems for those with asthma.
“The smoke is even getting into homes and residents are having to close off air vents.
“Glasdir Estate is situated in the glorious countryside and people have chosen to live there because of the clean living lifestyle the area can offer, but they are currently afraid to leave their homes for fear of the pollution outside. Enough is enough!
“It has gone on for far too long and something needs to be done about it and soon. I have therefore called for an urgent meeting with Natural Resources Wales and Denbighshire County Council in a bid to find a fast solution and end the misery for these long-suffering residents.”
