Conwy County Borough Council have agreed to reopen public conveniences in a Conwy village, which have been closed since early last year.
Clwyd West MS Darren Millar met with Cllr Greg Robbins, the Conwy County Borough Council Cabinet Member for the Environment, Llanfairtalhaiarn Cllr Ifor Lloyd, and local authority officers on Friday to discuss the future of the public conveniences in Llanfair TH, which were closed following flood damage in February last year and haven’t reopened since.
As a result of the meeting Conwy County Borough Council has now agreed to commission the repairs necessary for the public conveniences to be reopened and aims to complete the work by Easter.
Darren said:
“The toilets are situated on the scenic A548 route from Abergele to the Snowdonia National Park and were previously in use all year round, but especially in the summer when people gather on the banks of the River Elwy for picnics.
“It has been a huge inconvenience to those visiting Llanfairtalhaiarn as well as those passing through, that the toilets have been closed and I am therefore pleased that Friday’s meeting resulted in such a positive outcome. I thank Conwy Council for agreeing to carry out the repairs so promptly and in time for Easter.”
Cllr Ifor Lloyd said:
“Not having open public conveniences in Llanfair TH would undoubtedly put people off visiting, so I am grateful to the Council for agreeing to complete the necessary repairs and extremely pleased that these toilets will soon be in use once again.”
Cllr Greg Robbins said:
"I'm pleased to have been able to support the reopening of these important facilities in the village."
