Darren Millar MS, the Shadow Minister for Covid Recovery, has blasted the Welsh Labour-led Government’s £9-million fund for town centres as “woefully insufficient”.
Welsh Conservatives have announced plans for a £250m Covid Community Recovery Fund if elected to government next year.
Mr Millar said:
“The Welsh Labour-led Government's plans are woefully insufficient, and fall short on almost every count. They are temporary, and will not address the real issues facing towns and communities left reeling from the economic impact of the pandemic; towns and communities which are already among the most vulnerable because of decades of Labour Party rule.
“Our Covid Community Recovery Plan is a five-year commitment to people and businesses, would see business rates scrapped in designated areas and create a sustainable environment for growth and renewal.
“This is what struggling communities will need in order to bounce back and recover from the pandemic and only the Welsh Conservatives are committed to delivering it.”
