Clwyd West MS Darren Millar is calling on the Welsh Government to promote a healthier and greener way of living by urgently replicating the Fix your Bike Voucher Scheme in Wales.
The Fix your Bike Voucher Scheme was recently introduced in other parts of the UK and allows members of the public to receive a voucher worth up to £50 towards the cost of repairing a bicycle.
Darren is disappointed that a similar scheme has not been introduced in Wales and is therefore calling on the Welsh Labour-led Government to replicate the scheme here urgently.
He said:
“Ensuring that people are healthy is more important than ever given the current situation we find ourselves in and I welcome moves being taken by the UK Government to encourage people to be more active. However it is disappointing that the Welsh Government are not providing the people of Wales with the same opportunities when it comes to cycling.
“I am sure there are many homes across Wales with disused bikes lying around in sheds and garages that could benefit from a bit of care and repair.
“Implementing such a scheme would lead to both a healthier and greener Wales so I urge the Welsh Government to roll out a Fix Your Bike Scheme in Wales urgently and provide people here with the same benefits as those living in other parts of the UK.”
