Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed news that Welsh Water will be starting work to replace the water main in Gwyddelwern area next month.
The works were not due to start until April , but given the disruption in supply over the past 12 months, Welsh Water have brought the start date forward to March 14th.
A letter is going out next week informing residents of the new start date.
Welcoming the news, Darren said:
“I have been calling for these works since July last year and following news of another burst water pipe in Gwyddelwern in January, asked Welsh Water to bring them forward. I am therefore delighted that they have done this.
“In this day and age everyone should have access to a clean water supply. What the residents of Gwyddelwern have had to endure over the past 12 months is simply not acceptable and they will very much welcome today’s news.”
He added:
“I would like to thank Welsh Water for recognising the inconvenience that has been caused to residents over the past 12 months and welcome the community engagement they are planning. As well as hoping to organise an educational activities event at the local primary school once the work has started, they will also be offering £1,000 funding for a community project in the area.”
The work to improve and secure the drinking water network in Gwyddelwern will start on 14 March, 2022 and should be finished by 30 May, 2022. Welsh Water have said the works should not affect water supply.
