Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed news that two villages in his constituency are set to benefit from new mobile Post Office services.
A new mobile service will commence in Pwllglas on Tuesday September 7th, whilst in Llandbedr the existing mobile service will be serving customers at the new location, Village Hall Car Park, Llandyrnog Road, Llanbedr, Ruthin, LL15 1UP from the same date.
A Mobile service, which is a travelling Post Office aboard a specifically designed vehicle that brings Post Office services and retail products to communities without relying on fixed premises, is a tried and tested way of maintaining service to smaller communities. This Mobile service is operated by the postmaster from Flint Post Office and is offering a wide range of Post Office products and services
In January, Darren wrote to the Post Office Limited to ask them to extend a mobile service to Pwllglas, so he is delighted that this will now be happening.
He said:
“These Mobile Post Office services are ideal in more remote areas where otherwise residents would have to travel some distance to visit a post office.
“I know residents in Pwllglas have been crying out for such a service for some time and at the start of the year I contacted the Post Office Ltd to ask them to introduce a mobile facility in the village. I therefore very much welcome the introduction of this new service next week.
“It will be particularly useful in the winter months as residents will not be forced to travel in bad weather to access Post Office services.”
He added:
“I am also pleased that the Mobile Service is being retained in Llanbedr and moving to a more prominent location.
“I know that residents in both Pwllglas and Llanbedr will join me in welcoming this good news and I hope that they make full use of the services on offer.”
