Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has praised Towyn and Kinmel Bay Town Council for its work to improve safety and promote sustainability by installing smart solar powered lighting in the locality.
Tir Prince Country Park and Sandbank Road in Towyn, along with Clwyd Park and Chester Avenue Woodland have all benefitted from the new scheme which was initiated by Towyn Councillor David Johnson.
Around 40 solar lampposts have been installed the the community, each of which has smart sensors which causes the brightness of the lamps to increase as people approach.
Darren met with Cllr Johnson to discuss the initiative and inspect the latest improvements in Sandbank Road, Towyn recently. The lighting has helped to improve security and address anti-social behaviour there.
Darren said:
"The lighting initiative in Towyn and Kinmel Bay has made a real difference to community safety in local parks and helped to address security problems.
"I commend Cllr Johnson and the Town Council for investing in sustainable solar lighting solutions which help to keep costs down as well as carbon emissions."
Towyn Councillor David Johnson said:
"I am pleased that the Town Council supported my proposal to roll out this lighting in the locality.
"The solar lighting improvements have received a big thumbs up from local residents. It helps to make people feel safer when using public spaces like our parks while still protecting the planet."
