Clwyd West MS Darren Millar returned to his former college last week for a visit with Shadow Education Minister, Laura Anne Jones MS.
During the visit at Coleg Llandrillo in Rhos-on-Sea, the two politicians met with Dafydd Evans, Principal of Grwp Llandrillo Menai, and James Nelson, Executive Director, to discuss the impact of the pandemic on staff and students.
Darren said:
“It is always enjoyable to return to Coleg Llandrillo, a place which holds many fond memories from my time studying there. Like all educational establishments, the past two years have been particularly challenging for the college, but they have coped tremendously well under the difficult circumstances and are actually thriving as a college.
“I was very pleased to be accompanied by Shadow Education Minister, Laura Ann Jones MS, who like myself was keen to find out what issues the college is facing and what we can do to support them as education returns to normal times after an extremely turbulent period.
“We are very fortunate to have such a great college on our door step, offering state-of-the-art facilities and excellent student support. It really does provide something for everyone whatever their future aspirations and I commend all staff for making it the success that it is.”
Shadow Education Minister, Laura Ann Jones MS, said:
“It was a fantastic tour of a very impressive college, providing us with the opportunity to not only discuss the impact of the pandemic on staff, students and the college as a whole, but also other pressing issues they are facing.
“I would like to thank Dafydd Evans and James Nelson for showing us around, they and the team are doing a great job and I wish the college continued success moving forward.”
