Clwyd West Senedd candidate for the Welsh Conservatives, Darren Millar, has praised progress at a new community orchard in Kinmel Bay after planting a plum tree there yesterday.
Darren took time out from election campaigning on Wednesday afternoon to add the tree to the orchard on the Chester Avenue Community Woodland as part of an initiative by the Towyn and Kinmel Bay Show.
He said:
“The orchard is part of an improvement project in the Community Woodland and will be used by local residents and children from nearby schools to educate them about healthy eating and nature.
“It is coming on a treat and I was delighted to add to it with a plum tree which I hope will grow and flourish well over the years.
“I would like to thank all those involved in developing the orchard and look forward to watching it develop over the years.”
Leader of Conwy County Borough Council, Sam Rowlands, who was also at the planting said:
“I was very impressed by everything that has been achieved at the Community Woodland. It is a real asset to the local community.”
Chair of the Towyn and Kinmel Bay Show, Cllr Bernice McLoughlin, said:
“Much work has gone into establishing the orchard which we hope it will be enjoyed by residents of all ages for many years to come.
“I thank Darren for visiting on Wednesday and hopefully the plum tree he planted will bear much fruit.”
