After raising patient concerns about a Health Board managed GP practice in the Senedd earlier this month, Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has now met with staff to discuss the issues raised.
Darren visited the West End Medical Centre last week to meet staff and discuss action being taken to address patient concerns about primary care services.
The building hosts Rysseldene and Rhoslan Surgeries, both of which are managed by the Betsi Cadwaldr University Health Board.
The Health Board recently announced its intention to merge both practices to improve services for patients.
However, patients have been regularly contacting Darren with their concerns.
At his meeting last week, staff assured him that action has been taken to improve the situation.
He said:
“I have received much correspondence from constituents regarding these two surgeries in recent months and as I told the First Minister, people are not happy.
“During my meeting on Friday with staff I was told that the surgery doors are now open for people to access reception without having to wait outside, that extra call handlers have been deployed to take surgery calls during peak times, and recruitment for permanent doctors and other health professionals is ongoing.
“The surgery has also been working hard to address patient concerns when they are raised directly with the practice.
“In a bid to make ordering repeat prescriptions, booking appointments and accessing medical records easier, the surgery is encouraging as many patients as possible to download the My Surgery app on their mobile devices and to phone first if they think they need an appointment.
“These measures will be welcome news to patients and I thank staff for listening and working hard to implement these improvements. Hopefully going forward, patients will receive the service they deserve. If anyone continues to experience problems, please contact me at [email protected]."
