Clwyd West MS and Chair of the Cross Party Group on Armed Forces and Cadets in the Welsh Parliament, Darren Millar, has welcomed the work that Denbighshire County Council is doing to support the armed forces community after it received a prestigious award for its commitment to this cause this week.
At a full council meeting yesterday (February 22) Air Commodore Adrian Williams OBE, who is the highest ranking RAF Officer in Wales, and Tony Fish, Regional Employer Engagement Director (North) presented Chairman Cllr Alan James with the Silver Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Award.
The Council is one of 24 Welsh organisations and private sector employers to have received a Defence ERS Silver Award in 2021 from the Ministry of Defence.
Welcoming the news, Darren said:
“It is impossible to overstate the massive contribution that those serving in our armed forces make to keeping our nation safe, often at great personal risk. For this they deserve the very best services and support and I am absolutely delighted that Denbighshire County Council recognise this and are going above and beyond to demonstrate support to defence and the armed forces community, and have aligned their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
“I congratulate Denbighshire County Council on receiving this prestigious award and encourage them to continue the fantastic work they are doing on this agenda.”
