Towns and villages throughout Conwy and Denbighshire will be better protected from flooding thanks to a package of funding announced today.
The Welsh Government will provide £36million to Local Authorities and Natural Resources Wales to help them invest in new defences, maintenance works and natural flood management schemes, and Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed the fact that communities in his constituency, including Colwyn Bay, Abergele, LlanfairTH, Llangernyw, Llansannan and Graigfechan, are set to benefit.
£405,103 has been allocated to a scheme to address flooding in Eldon Drive in Abergele, whilst LlanfairTH will receive £500,000 and Colwyn Bay £925,823 on two schemes and a further £42,500 for a smaller scheme in Ffordd Bugail.
Darren has also welcomed £1.2 million that has been awarded to Conwy County Borough Council for the design and construction of improvements to sea defences in Llanddulas and Kinmel Bay.

Darren said:
“There has been devastating flooding across Conwy and Denbighshire over the years, with homes being completely destroyed.
“The residents of Llanfairtalhaiarn have been hit repeatedly and live in fear whenever there is bad weather.
“I am therefore delighted that the Welsh Government is finally providing the substantial funding needed to help prevent further cases of flooding in Clwyd West.”
