Clwyd West Welsh Conservative Candidate for the Senedd Elections, Darren Millar, has called on the Chief Executive of Betsi Cadwaldr University Health Board (BCUHB) to explain a “fiasco” at Kinmel Bay vaccination centre today, where the clinic was cancelled without patients being informed.
A number of patients turned up at the centre this morning expecting to receive their Covid jab, only to find the place in darkness and with no sign of any staff.
After contacting the health board, the patients were informed that the clinic had been cancelled.
Darren is therefore calling on the health board to explain why the cancellation wasn’t communicated with those booked in for an appointment and to ensure all those affected are vaccinated quickly.
His letter to the Chief Executive of BCUHB, Jo Whitehead, states:
“I am very concerned to read of the appalling lack of communication with those who had appointments booked in Kinmel Bay today.
“I would be grateful for an urgent explanation as to what has happened, how many patients will be affected, and what action will now be taken to ensure that those who had appointments cancelled will be able to get their vaccination quickly.”
Darren said:
“It is absolutely appalling that these patients were treated in this way.
“For them to turn up expecting a vaccination only to then be turned away is simply not acceptable.
“They are now left in limbo not knowing when they will receive their vaccine. They deserve a full apology from the health board and a fast replacement appointment. I will keep pushing until they get both.”
