Clwyd West MS Darren Millar is keen to make organisations in Conwy and Denbighshire aware that applications are open for National Lottery Grants for Heritage
For many heritage organisations, including those in Clwyd West the last year has been the most challenging ever faced.
With that in mind, the National Lottery has this week reopened applications for National Lottery Grants for Heritage, from £3,000 up to £5 million, and will prioritise projects that contribute to the UK’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

“As the pandemic continues to impact so many aspects of our lives, the National Lottery wants to fund projects that demonstrate the value of heritage to our national life and which support local economies, places and communities.
“They are asking heritage organisations to focus on a few high priority outcomes that will strengthen the sector and help drive the UK’s wider recovery from Covid-19. These priority outcomes include boosting local economies, encouraging and sustaining jobs and opportunities, supporting wellbeing and ensuring heritage plays a part in creating better places to live, work and visit.
“Lottery funding has been a lifeline to many projects throughout the pandemic, providing more than £500 million of funding across the UK– around double the usual amount – to support more than 1,500 heritage organisations, along with expertise and advice on adapting to the pandemic.
“They are committed to ensuring that this spirit will continue through 2021 to support and drive longer-term recovery and I therefore urge heritage organisations in North Wales who fit the criteria for funding to apply.”

“Heritage has an essential role to play in making communities better places to live, creating economic prosperity and supporting personal wellbeing. All of these are going to be vitally important as we build back from the pandemic.
"During 2020 we focused on supporting heritage across the UK to adapt and respond to the immediate impact of the COVID-19 crisis. By the end of this financial year we will have supported more than 1,500 organisations across the heritage sector with over £500million of National Lottery and Government funding.
“Our focus now is to support the heritage sector to strengthen its recovery and to build back for positive change – reopening applications for heritage projects is key to the success of this.”
