Welsh Conservative Senedd Candidate for Clwyd West, Darren Millar, is calling on Conwy County Council to listen to the public before making any final decisions regarding the future of a popular library.
The local authority is considering moving Colwyn Bay library into the Coed Pella building to establish a local hub.
However, many people do not want to see the service moved and are concerned about the future of the historic Library building.
Darren has therefore written to the Council to find out more about the proposals and to ask them to consider the views of the public.
He said:
“Colwyn Bay library is an important and well used asset in the town with parking immediately outside and good disabled access.
“There are also many groups that use the rooms available in the library for their activities, including the local college and community groups, and I myself hold regular surgeries for my constituents there.
“The staff in Colwyn Bay are also a tremendous asset to the Library Service and it isn’t that long since the local authority invested to improve the current facility.
“I therefore can not understand why they are considering relocating.
“People are not happy above the proposals and it is vital that the council listen to their views before any final decision is made.”
Consultation on the proposed relocation will start at the end of May.
