Plans to introduce a new one-way system along the bottom of the Cayley Embankment on Rhos promenade were approved by Conwy County Borough Council despite strong opposition from local residents.
Clwyd West MS Darren Millar launched a campaign over 12 months ago to urge Conwy County Borough Council to keep two-way traffic along the whole length of the sea front after receiving a large number of complaints from worried residents.
Darren has previously expressed concerns over the traffic chaos the one-way system would bring and the impact this could have on local businesses, discouraging people from visiting Rhos-on-Sea.
Darren said:
"I'm disappointed by this decision. It flies in the face of the views of the overwhelming majority of local residents.
"The changes will undoubtedly lead to much more traffic using roads in residential areas and will increase the carbon emissions of vehicles who now need to climb the embankment on the promenade.
"If the implementation of this change results in unintended consequences then two way traffic at the bottom of the embankment must be reinstated."
