Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed news that tenants in Conwy are being supported thanks to a substantial cash boost from the National Lottery.
A total of £374,828 of National Lottery funding was awarded by The National Lottery Community Fund in Clwyd West from March to June 2021.
The funding was awarded to Creating Enterprise CIC over four years to support Cartrefi Conwy tenants who may be socially isolated, lacking in confidence or unemployed to take part in volunteering activities through two pathways. They include a befriending service that will reduce isolation and loneliness amongst older residents, and skill developing opportunities with support into gaining employment.
Welcoming the news, Darren said:
“I am absolutely delighted to hear of this vital contribution to supporting communities in Clwyd West during what continues to be challenging times.
“The pandemic has hit people hard and a great many are struggling as a result. This funding will go a long way to helping Cartrefi Conwy tenants during this difficult period.
“Clwyd West has benefitted greatly from The National Lottery Community Fund over the years, including throughout the pandemic, and I am very pleased that this support is set to continue as we embark on the return to more normal times.”
The National Lottery Community Fund distributes over £600m a year to communities across the UK, raised by players of The National Lottery.
