In the year that King Charles III acceded to the British throne following the death of his mother, Elizabeth II, a Colwyn Bay school boy’s royal themed Christmas card design has landed him first prize in Clwyd West MS Darren Millar’s annual Christmas Card competition.
Every year Darren invites school pupils across his constituency to design a Christmas card which he sends out across the local area. Every year there is a theme and for 2022 it was “The King”
As always, the contest attracted many entries and Darren and his team had the difficult task of selecting a winner. The eventually decided upon the design of Lucas Mulley, aged 9, of St Joseph’s School, Colwyn Bay.
After visiting the school to present the prize to Lucas, Darren said:
“Lucas created a fantastic design of a lovely snowman wearing a crown on a postage stamp which my team and I were all drawn to.
“It was great to visit St Joseph’s School to thank Lucas and to present him his prize.
"It’s always tough to choose a winner and I want to thank all the children who took part in the competition this year – their pictures were brilliant and are helping to brighten up my office in the run-up to Christmas.
‘My Christmas card is currently being sent out across the local area soon and I’m sure that everyone who receives a copy will be impressed by Luca’s design."
