Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has been appointed as the Chief Whip and Shadow Minister for the Constitution and North Wales for the Welsh Conservative Party in the Senedd.
After the party's best ever Welsh election on May 6th, Welsh Conservative Leader Andrew RT Davies announced his Shadow Cabinet earlier this week.
Darren was first elected to the Welsh Parliament in May 2007 and has previously served on the Welsh Conservative front bench as Chief Whip, Shadow Minister for External Affairs and International Relations, Shadow Secretary for Education and Children and Shadow Minister for Health and Older People.
During his first term in office, he held various Shadow Ministerial briefs, including for Economy and Transport, Environment and Planning, and Communities and Local Government.
He said he is looking forward to working in his new role.
He said:
“It is fantastic to be back in the Senedd with a stronger Conservative team and I am really looking forward to getting stuck into my new role and working with my fellow Conservatives MSs old and new to ensure that the people of North Wales get a fairer deal. My role as Shadow Minister for North Wales will enable me to fight further to this end
“For far too long the region has been overlooked, but with more Conservative MSs representing North Wales than ever before we are now in a position to scrutinize and hold the Welsh Government to account more than ever, and constituents can rest assured we will be doing exactly that.”
