Clwyd West MS Darren Millar is calling for the speed limit on a dangerous stretch of road in Denbighshire to be looked at.
Darren recently visited Bryn Saith Marchog with Denbighshire County Council ward member Councillor Hugh Evans to meet with Noel Morris, owner of the garage in Bryn SM, look at the stretch of the A494 trunk road in this area after receiving reports of a number of accidents in recent years.
Following the site visit, Darren said:
“The garage owner in Bryn Saith Marchog says that there have been a series of accidents on the stretch in recent years with overtaking vehicles speeding on the long straight past the garage and the junction opposite.
“Having observed the traffic there it seems clear that a 60mph speed limit is inappropriate and that there should be no overtaking on the stretch.
“Too many people have sadly lost their lives already on dangerous roads in Denbighshire and we don’t want to see any more.
“I will therefore be pursuing this matter to see what traffic calming measures can be put in places to ensure that the road is made safer.”
Cllr Evans said:
“It was evident from our visit that something needs to be done along this stretch to make it safer for drivers. There have already been a number of accidents and we must do everything we can to prevent any more.”
