Following an increase in the volume of litter and fly-tipping in areas of Towyn and Kinmel Bay, Clwyd West MS Darren Millar is calling on Conwy County Council to take action to address the problem.
Darren is concerned that the A547 Rhuddlan Road, Gors Road and St Asaph Avenue are regularly strewn with litter and bags of rubbish and is keen for the council to clean-up the areas and ensure those responsible are held to account for their actions.
He said:
“I am astonished by the amount of rubbish tossed onto the roadside in these parts of Towyn and Kinmel Bay by irresponsible people.
“There has been an increase in fly-tipping during the pandemic, particularly during the lockdowns when recycling centres were closed, but with everything now running as normal there really is no excuse for people to be dumping rubbish in this way. There are currently duvets, tyres and bin bags full of rubbish alongside the roads and it really is unacceptable.
“Conwy County Borough Council must undertake more regular litter picks and clean up exercises, and take steps to catch the culprits and hold them to account for their actions.
“As an area that relies heavily on the visitor economy, we must ensure that the area is clean and attractive for locals and visitors alike.”
